Quick question before August hits

Wow, is summer going fast.

August is two days away and I genuinely don't know how that happened. School is right around the corner, sports are somehow still in full swing, and last week we found out my daughter, Jalyn made FC Elite, one of the bigger club volleyball teams in the area. 148 kids tried out for her age group. 22 made the team. And she was one of them.

She put in the work. She showed up to every tryout, every practice, every moment that mattered. And it paid off.

Peek of my all-star from the end of last season, and a very tired me.

To think she's even taller now...

I keep thinking about that in the context of the designers I work with. The ones with steady, calm businesses aren't the ones doing the most. They're the ones who built something solid underneath everything else so that when life gets full, and it always gets full, nothing slips through the cracks.

Which brings me to something I've been noticing lately.

A lot of designers don't have a real project management system in place. And I don't mean a fancy one. I just mean something that works. So here's a quick gut check.

Whatever you answered, there's no wrong answer here. I'm asking because I keep seeing the same pattern behind the scenes of design studios and I want to know if it's showing up for you too.

Based on how you all answer, next send I'm breaking down the three questions every designer should be able to answer about their own system right now. Watch for it.

WORTH YOUR TIME

While you're thinking about systems, this one connects.

LITTLE JOY

Tournament season means three hours between games, bleacher admin, and trying to capture every moment of Jalyn on the court. This portable charger has become non-negotiable. I keep it in my bag so my phone never dies mid-video, or mid-email, because the business doesn't pause for volleyball weekends.

ONE LAST THING

Hit reply and tell me which answer you picked. I read every single one, and I promise I'm asking because I'm genuinely curious, not because I'm about to sell you something.

And if you're not following along on Instagram yet, find me at @jacquelinestrubleco.
Until next week...
